Revision to watercraft behind homes rule 9.10.2 for community review

The following proposed revision to Rule 9.10.2 was presented at the NLYH Board Meeting held on May 13, 2026.

This proposed rule change is being posted for community review and comment. If you have any objections or comments regarding the proposed revision, please submit them to the Board within fourteen (14) days directly on the website or in writing to the office

The proposed revision will be voted on at the NLYH Board Meeting scheduled for June 17, 2026.

Motion for revision to rule 9.10.2

 

I recommend amending the max size boat behind Homes to be increased from 38’ to 40’ leaving the overall length of up to ten (10) feet less than the lot width……No circumstances greater than forty (40) feet measured from the bow anchor to the end of the motors trimmed up.  I motion to approve and issue for community comment and if there is no issues we ratify based on this vote.  The following language changes are proposed:

 

On April 24, 2024, NLYH BOD approved the following language in par 9.10.12, Behind Homes: Only watercraft of an overall length measurement of up to twelve (12) feet 12’ less than the lot width or up to thirty-five (35) feet, whichever is greater, an under no circumstances greater than thirty-eight (38) feet and with a beam not to exceed thirteen (13) feet may be moored behind houses bordering the canal area within NLYH”

 

Recommended change of language in par 9.10.2

Behind Homes: Only watercraft of an overall length measurement of up to twelve (12) ten (10) feet 12’ less than the lot width or up to thirty five (35) feet, whichever is greater, and under no circumstances greater than thirty-eight (38) forty (40) feet and with a beam not to exceed thirteen (13) feet may be moored behind houses bordering the canal area within NLYH.  The overall length measurement will include bow pulpits, motors in the up-tilt position, dinghies, rubber rafts and any other auxiliary accessory including an additional watercraft attached to the boat or moored on the seawall.
